Is there really a relationship between coffee and depression? For me, coffee is something that relaxes me and keeps me awake in the dull meetings. I don’t remember feeling sad or happy due to a cup of coffee. However, research says something very different.
Some research shows that coffee acts as an antidepressant and on the other hand there are other facts stating that coffee leads to depression or getting depressed. But at the end of it, I guess it is on the individual how you react to this great drink.
A cup of coffee in the morning
People who kick start their day with a cup of coffee can actually swear that it is actually the right zest to start your day. On the other hand who were going through a phase of depression were told to give up their cup of coffee and sugar and they saw their moods improving.
Coffee as antidepressant
Coffee is known to have antidepressant qualities and helps in bringing a cheer factor in your life. It is said that caffeine reacts with the different neurotransmitters like acetylcholine and dopamine and helps in keeping the mood of people up, especially who are going through depression.
Excess of Coffee
However, on the other hand, having too much of coffee leads to depression. Coffee definitely gives that temporary kick but what follows that kick is completely different. Caffeine in the coffee has the ability to increase the insulin levels in the blood. This leads to reduced blood sugar levels that make people experience low energy levels and feelings of depression sets in.
So, I think it is safe to say that too much or too little of coffee is dangerous. People who love coffee and are enjoying it completely should control the intake so that they don’t experience any mood swings. Depending on how it is working out for you, enjoy your cup of coffee.

Linda Giles
I gave a cup of Cafe DeLeon with ganoderma and Omega-3 to one of my co-workers and it not only gave her energy, but really made her calmer, and less stressed. She told me that her focus was better, and she wanted to make it a daily part of her morning routine. It is a healthy coffee, and we have several lines to choose from like the Collaffee (collagen for the skin); Weight Loss (green tea and ganoderma); and Diabetic – glucose balanced. All come in cappuccino flavor and black. A delicious and healthy way to start the day
