Essential Oils and its Different Uses

As we think of essential oils, the first thing that comes to mind is aromatherapy. But other than aromatherapy, essential oils can be used for a multiple other reasons. Find out the different uses of essential oils and make these pure essential oils a unique style statement for your home.

What are Essential Oils?

Well, before we start off let’s be clear as what are essential oils. Pure essential oils are in liquid form that need to be distilled most of the time by steam or water. This essential oil is made from the extracts of leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots or other plant elements. Essential oils don’t at all have an oily feel to it. Most essential oils are pure and clear. However, essential oils like patchouli, orange and lemongrass are amber or yellow in color.

Essential Oils as Air Freshener

Are you one of those who simply can’t stand the smell of those artificial air fresheners? Well, then it’s quite simple to make one of your own. Go for cheap essential oils. They smell great and will give your home a completely different fragrance. Just fill a small spray bottle with water and add a few drops of pure essential oils of your choice. Some of the popular essential oils are rose essential oil, lavender essential oil, sandalwood essential oil, vanilla essential oil and more.

Vanish Odor from Bins

Bins are one thing that just doesn’t smell great. So here is a tip to reduce the unpleasant smell coming out of your bins. Take a ball of cotton wool, put a few drops of essential oil onto it like lemon or tea tree and put it inside the bin liner.

Essential Oils as Antiseptic

There are many essential oils having antiseptic or antibacterial properties. One of the best among these is lavender essential oil. It is excellent for skin problems and is known to have soothing properties. As for cleaning your home, if you want to avoid harsh chemical cleaners then you can make your own products by using ingredients like vinegar or soda crystals. With this add a few drops of lemon, tea tree or rosemary essential oils.

Essential oils for Massage

There are a range of essential oils known as aromatherapy essential oils. However, always check with your therapist before finalizing any particular essential oil. You can always ask your partner to give you a wonderful massage with pure aromatherapy essential oils. Remember to use carrier oil like almond to dilute the essential oils and enjoy a relaxing experience.

Fragrant Bath

One of the best ways to enjoy a fantastic bath is by adding a few drops of pure essential oils. You can also make a combination of two essential oils put together like orange essential oil and cinnamon essential oil. It is a fantastic way to lay back, soak and enjoy the scent, especially if bath products and bubbles just don’t work for you.

Essential Oil Diffuser

If you are not very keen on artificial fragrance oils and have an oil burner at home then you can simply put just one drop of oil in water and that’s enough. The other way to go about it is rubbing a few drops of essential oil into a candle and the fragrance will disperse around the room as the candle burns.

So, select your favorite essential oils and give a fragrance makeover to your home.
