Beloved Books to Share with Your Kids

I will start this article with a flashback….

Do you remember the Christmas morning with the wonderful feeling of looking for Christmas presents under the Christmas tree and digging out your favorite book all decked in festive packing? Yes, of course you remember. And then a more favorite memory, you snuggling with your parents with hot chocolate with your favorite book all ready for your bedtime story. 


Books are evergreen and one of the easiest ways to make your memories come alive. Book reading is a habit and tradition that we should definitely pass on to the next generation and on this Christmas we can make a start. Keeping this fantastic thought in mind I have put together a list of some best of all times Christmas classics that is definitely going to get you in the festive spirit.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

This is one author who is very popular for the books like Jumanji and the Polar Express. No doubt he is so popular with older children. The stories penned down by this author are exciting, relaxing and breath taking all at the same time. So, on this Christmas you can pick up one of the best sellers of this author and gift it to your children. If you are thinking about Polar Express, then it is the tale of a young boy who lies awake, waiting eagerly for Christmas. The adventure that follows is going to captivate all age groups.

The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy by Jane Thayer

This is a sweet pampering tale that has that much required Christmas twist. This book is a perfect Christmas present for the older kids. The book was originally published in 1958. The artwork and the text of this book has been changed and modernized to give a glimpse of how the times have changed, yet the story bears its classic charm. The story revolves around a puppy who wishes for a small boy to call his own and is definitely going to make kids happy.

Li’l Rabbit’s Kwanzaa by Donna L. Washington

This is a great holiday story if not completely a Christmas story. The book is full of bunnies and they are impossible to resist. And if this hasn’t got you all interested then the entertaining and captivating storyline is definitely going to do so. In this book the little rabbit is going all out of the way to help his grandmother prepare for Kwanzaa and be a part of the celebration. This book brings out the values of being there for each other in the family and is definitely teach your kids some valuable lessons.

A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote

To start with, this is not a very heavy book and your kids are definitely going to enjoy the read on Christmas. The story revolves around a small boy and his best friend and the time that they spend enjoying the friendship of each other. The story brings out the silent message of Christmas with the spirit of giving and nurturing. But then there is a tinge of sadness and loneliness as well.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

Reading this book is so much fun and exciting. The best part of the book is that it has rhyming lines with brave characters and fantastic illustrations that make this little picture book at the top of the list when it comes to children’s picture books. Not only is the story fun and amazing to read and enjoy, there is also an important message that it gives out. Once your kids understand the message behind the story, they will look forward to Christmas more than just surprise gifts and toys.

The Night Before Christmas by Jessie Wilcox Smith and Clement Clarke Moore

This is an evergreen and classic children’s book. The book was originally written by Clement Clarke Moore as a gift to his six children. The book is full of colorful and bright illustrations and wonderful poetry. No matter how many times you read this book, you will never really get bored of it. 

There are definitely many more books out there and you can select from a range of books. You can never really exhaust the complete set. So no matter what’s your list of best sellers, gift a book on this Christmas.
