Halloween Safety Measures: What Officers Say

As Halloween comes closer the local officers raise the security measures for all those who are concerned. They have come up with a number of safety tips to keep you and your kids’ safe on this Halloween.
Local officers have stated that all kids going for trick or treat should have a flashlight at all times and also wear a watch that can read in the dark and also let the kids know when it is time to return home. Officers have also stated that costumes should be shorter than floor

length and should have some kind of reflective marking like a tape so that it can be seen better in the dark.

Other than these all Halloween props that are used alongside the Halloween costume should be soft and not harm others. If the kids are wearing any kind of Halloween mask then it has been stated by the officers that they should definitely take it off when crossing roads or walking door to door, so that they can see properly. The kids can alternatively wear makeup or a hat as a safety measure instead of the regular Halloween masks.

Officers have also set out guidelines that children should always be accompanied with an adult with walking being the mode, rather than running from house to house. As an additional tip, traffic rules have to be followed at all times and kids need to walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.

Parents are advised to warn their children from not going to strangers home or car. Trick n treat on Halloween night should only happen in well lit neighborhoods and only to houses that they are familiar with.

Kids going about trick or treaters should showcase their name, address and telephone identification number in case of any emergency. It is also advised that children should stay out in groups rather than hanging out singly. Parents are also advised to feed their children before they go trick or treating. This will help them consume less of their treats, which should be inspected by parents before consumed.

Other than the safety norms for parents and kids, there are some common safety measures that are charted out. Simple things like keeping the backyard clear of stuff like ladders, garden hoses etc. not using candles in jack-o-lanterns and similar precautionary measures.
With a bit of alertness and awareness, Halloween can become free from accidents.
