Dating Tips for Single Moms

Dating for single moms is not quite easy. Finding the perfect man who accepts you with your motherhood responsibilities is a challenge. After all we know, men run away from commitment. But that definitely doesn’t mean it can’t happen. The only thing that you need to watch out for is a bit of extra caution. Taking one step at a time and not overdoing things can make you successful in single parent dating. Check out these easy dating tips for single moms that can once more bring you back into the world of adult relationships.

Don’t Blindly Have Faith on a Baby-sitter

The very first priority for every mother is their children and not themselves or their date. So, don’t leave your kids totally to a baby sitter because you have too much on your plate. You should ideally follow a once a week rule. Make your date nights happen on days when they are either with their dad or grandparents. But once more it should be once a week. The kids shouldn’t feel that you are getting rid of them, because you have a date. This is one of the most important advice for single moms.

Safety first

The safety of your family is very important and this applies to all women. Since you are a single mom, you need to be a little more careful when going for single mom dating. Once in a while we bump into creeps and if they know the way to our homes then it is only waiting for disaster to hit us. So, don’t allow your date to pick you up from your home. Go to some public place and then arrange a pick or drop. It is always better if you go for a background check before going out with a new guy.

Don’t talk about your Ex

Many women make the mistake of talking about their ex on their single mom date night. Your date definitely doesn’t want to know how good or bad a daddy he is or worse husband. Talk about yourself, a bit about kids perhaps but definitely not about your ex-husband. Talking about your past hurts will only bring out the negative element in you.

Don’t introduce the kids — yet

One important dating tip for single moms is how to handle your kids. For every date that you go out on, you don’t need to drag your children in it. In most probability you are going to date a lot of men, so why confuse the kids meeting each one of them. If you have been dating someone for a while and is serious to a certain extent, then the kids can be introduced, otherwise let them be in their secure world.

Stick to your budget

For single moms, working on a budget is a bit difficult all the time. Struggling between the requirement of your kids, running the house and also enjoying the date nights, sometimes cash runs thin. You should always remember not to go overboard with spending. Either split the bill or choose a place that is easy on your pocket.

No sleep-overs!

One thing that should be avoided at all costs is sleep over, especially if you have kids in the house. Many custody agreements actually spell it out. However, if that is not the case also, it is better that you avoid any kind of sleep over. It is going to be too much for your kids to handle.

Single parent dating is happening all around us and it is possible also. Before you go in for single mom dating, remember it is not going to be a piece of cake, but it is still worth a try.
